About 12.7 million dollars is how much Mafcom Angola invested in the construction of a pasta factory in Luanda. The information was provided by the company's managing partner, José Mesquita.

Speaking to the newspaper Mercado, the official informed that the factory will be able to produce around 110 tons per day.

José Mesquita also spoke about the projects that the company intends to implement, but which have not yet moved from paper to action: a sausage factory and a chicken mortadella factory are on the list.

The official said that the initiatives in the portfolio will be implemented this year, adding that it is estimated that the sausage factory is capable of producing 1.2 tons per hour.

On the list of projects already carried out by the company is a margarine factory, which is located in the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) and in which around 27.5 million dollars has been invested.

In addition, the company also has a farm in Porto do Amboim dedicated to coffee production.

Speaking about exports, the company's managing partner revealed that since 2016 they have exported around 700 tons of coffee annually to Portugal, Spain, Morocco and Germany.

About two years ago, in 2020, Mafcom started exporting margarine to some countries on the African continent, such as Ghana.

Regarding the raw material to support production, José Mesquita, quoted by the Market, made it known that for the new pasta unit, the products must be imported from Turkey, Russia and Ukraine. As for the sausage, the raw material will come from Brazil, South Africa and the Netherlands, while for the margarine factory already in operation, the raw material will come from Malaysia, while the milk will come from Singapore and Ireland.

Currently, Mafcom has 500 direct and 150 indirect employees. However, the opening of sausage and chicken mortadella factories will generate 30 more jobs.

The company – which is divided into nine provinces in the country (Luanda, Benguela, Malanje, Huambo, Cuanza Sul, Cabinda, Huíla, Lunda Sul and Huíla) – operates in the fields of commerce and industry, aiming to promote national production and reduce imports.
