"The importation, commercialization, distribution and consumption of antimalarial drugs, containing artemether 20mg/Lumefantrine 120mg and the drug 'Luther Forte', containing artemether 40mg/Lumefantrine 240mg, both manufactured by an Indian pharmaceutical company, is prohibited", indicated the Mine in a statement.
The ban on this batch arises after problems were detected in its dissolution and failure to observe good manufacturing practices.
The ministry also informed that the manufacture, import, marketing and re-export of antituberculous, antiretroviral and antimalarial drugs that are not included in the National List of Essential Medicines of the Ministry of Health are prohibited.
Minsa urged the population to remain alert and appeals to public and private health institutions that have in their possession the batch of those medicines to immediately notify the Regulatory Agency for Medicines and Health Technologies (Armed).
