As part of the World Water Day, which is celebrated this Tuesday, March 22, under the motto "Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible", the official visited the construction and expansion works of the Water Treatment Plant of Candelabro (Phase III), in the urban district of Quifangongo, municipality of Cacuaco.
According to a note from the vice-presidency, this infrastructure is "one of the most important works of the Executive led by President João Lourenço with a view to reducing the deficit in the supply of water in Luanda".
Budgeted at more than 122 million dollars, the project for the center started in 2017 and will be completed at the end of this month, and the center will supply 210,000 cubic meters of water daily, benefiting around two million citizens, writes Angop.
On the occasion, Bornito de Sousa admitted that the completion of the Candelabro Distribution Center will address the obstacles in the supply of water to various areas of Luanda.
Cited by Angop, the deputy PR also took the opportunity to talk about other projects, already in progress, which aim to improve the supply of drinking water throughout the country, having highlighted the project for "water transfer" of the Cunene river with to deliver water to drought-affected areas in southern Angola.
According to officials from Empresa de Águas de Luanda, quoted by Angop, the station will help to improve the supply in the centralities of Sequele and Vida Pacifica as well as in the urbanization of Maié-Maié, Cazenga, Cacuaco, Panguila, Marçal and in the industrial hub of Viana.
