According to José Correia de Araújo, executive director of ASAN, quoted in a statement sent to VerAngola, the premiums of these 17 insurers represented 99.01 percent of the entire market in 2020.
According to the note, the Health (37.7 percent), Petrochemicals (22.6 percent), Workmen's Compensation (9.5 percent) and Automotive (8 .8 percent).
Next, the branches with the highest weight are Other Damage to Things, Fire and Transport, with a combined weight of 15 percent.
The insurance market continues to present a very high degree of concentration, which translates into a relative weight of the five largest insurers in the sample of 75.7 percent, 15.7 percent of the five insurers below and 8.7 percent of the remaining seven.
With regard to claims, considering data from a sample of insurers that represented 83.7 percent of the market in 2020, the global claims rate had a considerable reduction from 2020 (42.46 percent) to 2021 (34.72 percent), essentially due to the substantial reduction in the loss ratio in the Petrochemical branch, the statement said.
If the Petrochemical branch is excluded, the overall accident rate remained relatively stable (43.92 percent in 2020 and 44.81 percent in 2021). Of the other lines, the decrease in the claims rate in the Health line (from 69.61 percent to 59.24 percent) and the growth in the Motor lines (from 39.95 percent to 43.21 percent) and Fire (from 10.52 percent to 65.29 percent).
The note also reveals that the insurers that are part of this study are Aliança Seguros, BIC Seguros, Confiança, Ensa, Fidelidade, Fortaleza, Giant, Global Seguros, Nossa, Mundial, Protteja, Prudential, Sanlam, SOL Seguros, STAS, Tranquilidade and Clover Insurance.
