Covid-19: country reports 31 new cases and two deaths in 24 hours

The country has recorded 31 new SARS-CoV-2 infections, two deaths, and seven instances of people being recovered, in the last 24 hours, health officials said.

Angola now records a total of 21,086 infections, 514 deaths and 19,647 people recovered from covid-19.

According to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, the cases recorded in the period in reference are from the province of Luanda (25), Huambo (3), Cabinda (1), Zaire (1) and Huila (1), 22 men and nine women, aged between seven and 74 years.

The deaths were reported in the provinces of Huambo and Luanda, both in nationals, aged 66 and 71.

With data released this Sunday, the country now has 925 active cases, of which three people are in critical condition, eight in serious condition, 37 moderate, 18 mild and 859 people are asymptomatic.

Sixty-six people are hospitalized in forty-three other institutions and 1431 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

At the laboratory level, 658 samples were processed by RT-PCR, pointing the cumulative to 402,941 samples processed with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

At the entry and exit points of the capital, Luanda, the only province under sanitary fence, 1099 people were tested with rapid serological tests.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,588,5974 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 116.4 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
