Covid-19: country with two more deaths and 28 new cases in 24 hours

The country added two more deaths and 28 new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours, as well as 10 recoveries from the disease, State Secretary for Public Health Franco Mufinda announced Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 24 were registered in the province of Luanda, one in Cabinda, one in Huíla, one in Moxico and one in Zaire, with ages between one month and 85 years, and being 13 males and 15 females, detailed Franco Mufinda.

According to the health authorities, two deaths were registered - both in the province of Luanda - with ages between 47 and 85 years old.

Ten people were considered recovered from the disease, seven of them in the province of Luanda and three in Huíla, aged between 20 and 44 years.

Angola now totals 20,882 cases since the pandemic began, including 510 deaths, 19,410 recovered and 962 active cases.

Among the active cases, 10 are in serious condition, and there is no record of any patient in critical condition.

Laboratories have processed 1469 samples, out of a cumulative 396,399 samples with a cumulative positivity rate of 5.3 percent.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,539,505 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 114.3 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by French news agency AFP.

According to the most recent data from the African Union Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the number of infected in this continent since the beginning of the pandemic is 3,905,936 and the number of deaths 104,012.

The disease is transmitted by a coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
