Covid-19: country with 47 more cases and 78 more recoveries

The country has registered 47 new cases of covid-19 and the recovery of 78 patients, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, said Monday.

Of the new infections, 42 were reported in Luanda, three in Zaire, one in Cuando Cubango and another in Benguela.

The ages of the new patients range from 13 to 99 years old, of which 41 are male and six are female.

No deaths were recorded in this period and 78 people were considered recovered from the disease, aged between 2 and 91 years.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 20,854 cases have been registered in Angola, of which 508 deaths, 19,400 recoveries and 946 active cases, including 12 in serious condition.

A total of 976 RT-PCR tests were processed in the laboratories, increasing the cumulative to 395,105 samples.

With regard to post-departure testing at February 4 International Airport, 15,694 travelers have been tested since January 16, of which 46 have tested positive.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,531,448 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 114 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
