Covid-19 puts ProPriv ‘on hold’. Technical presentations will be made by video conference

Technical presentations on the privatization of industrial and textile enterprises scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday in Luanda were canceled, due to prevention recommendations taking into account the global pandemic of Covid-19.

There were scheduled “consultation sessions with national and foreign investors and other interested parties about the privatization process of textile and agricultural industrial enterprises”, says the Ministry of Finance, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The events would take place in the auditorium of the IMOB Business Tower building, which currently houses the headquarters of the State Assets and Participations Management Institute (IGAPE), at Rua Major Kanhangulo.

However, IGAPE issued this Tuesday at the end of the day a statement that canceled the event. The institute says that “in compliance with the recommendations of the Interministerial Commission for Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic”, the sessions scheduled for March 18th and 19th were canceled.

The institute further informs that, over the next week, these sessions will be held by video conference. Details for accessing this modality will be made available until March 20th.

The meetings were aimed at bringing together entrepreneurs, banking and investment fund operators, financial intermediation agents and consultants in order to provide information on the three textile factories and four agricultural and livestock enterprises.

From the Privatization Program (ProPriv) portfolio, the textile units to be privatized are as follows:

Commander Bula (formerly SATEC) - located in Dondo, province of Cuanza Norte;
Textile Africa - located in Benguela municipality, Benguela province;
Textang II - located in the municipality of Cazenga, province of Luanda;
In turn, at this stage, the Privatization Program places a package with the following agro-livestock enterprises at the disposal of market agents:

Quizenga Farm (Malange);
Cubal Farm (Benguela);
Long Farm (Cuando Cubango);
Pungo Andongo Farm (Malange).
IGAPE will also announce another batch of manufacturing units to be privatized under the Privatization Program.

Those interested should register directly through the following contacts: 926334211 and propriv@igape.co.ao.

The Government's ProPriv plans to transfer 195 companies to the private sphere over a four-year period.
