Country conducts census of companies. Census will cost five million dollars

The World Bank has made at least five million dollars available for the Business and Establishment Census (REMPE 2019). The purpose of the census is to identify the companies and establishments present in the country.

:

The Director General of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Camilo Ceita, who was speaking at the REMPE 2019 launch ceremony, revealed that around 500 employees will be involved in the census process, most of them young people. Of those 500, 250 will do fieldwork, 60 will supervise the land, 22 will be provincial supervisors and nine will be national supervisors.

He also pointed out that the REMPE is taking place at a time when the country needs to know its business structure. Cited by Angop, Camilo Ceita said that the censuses will be made to formal and informal companies, large taxpayers and visible and invisible companies.

The project has already started in Luanda and is expected to be implemented in the rest of the country within two months.

Adão Fernando, technical coordinator of REMPE, said that the census will reveal some crucial facts about the companies in the country, how many companies exist and where they are located.

The technician also said that about 2 million and 600 thousand dollars are reserved to implement this project.

In the census carried out 16 years ago, it was possible to see that there were around 100 thousand companies in the country, 26 thousand of which are active, writes Angop. This census carried out in 2002/2003 allowed for the construction of the Statistical Units File (FUE), which in turn allowed for the construction of samples of economic activity surveys and thus produce statistical information for the National Accounts base.
