In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the government informs importers of products and by-products of animal origin that "licenses will not be issued for the import of offal, poultry, pork and beef parts, as there are conditions for the local production of these products".
Thus, the measure will come into force as of next month. From 15 March, licenses will not be issued for the import of "offal, liver, tripe, kidneys, heart and lungs of beef", as well as "turkey, chicken and duck wings, gizzards, hearts, backs, necks and livers of poultry".
In addition, products of pork origin, such as "heads, ears, snouts, tails, livers, hearts and other offal", will also be covered by the government measure, according to the same press release.
In a second phase, on July 31, the import of "pig necks, beef tails and heads, chicken thighs, turkey drumsticks and thighs" will be prohibited.
This is a government measure to strengthen domestic production and reduce its dependence on the external market.
