Speaking on Monday during a meeting with the provincial governor of Bié, Celeste Adolfo, the chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of Huawei for Portuguese-speaking Countries in Southern Africa, António Hou, said that this project "intends to donate technological packages for energy and internet in areas with low levels of development in the province of Bié, support family farming with the use of technology and protect the source of the Kwanza River to promote tourism".

Quoted in a statement from the Bié government, to which VerAngola had access, the official explained that the "next step" will be to visit at least three locations so that the implementation of the initiative can begin in the coming months.

"António Hou stressed that the next step will be to carry out inspection visits in at least three locations to launch the project within three months and stressed that it has already been implemented in the province of Cuanza Norte, in the town of Maria Teresa", reads the note.

In turn, the provincial governor expressed satisfaction with the choice of Bié to "benefit from a project that will boost the socioeconomic development of the localities, having assured full collaboration of the government of the province of Bié for the implementation of the project".

Monday's hearing served to present "Huawei's social responsibility project, called 'Ilumina Angola', whose main objective is to bring digitalization and connectivity to rural and remote regions of the country, promoting technological inclusion and access to essential services", the statement also reads.
