Angola came from the first leg – played last week in Luanda – with an advantage, after winning 2-1. However, this Wednesday, the Zimbabwean counterpart did not make life easy for the team, which had to suffer until the end and decide the passage on penalties.
In Wednesday's match, counting for the second leg and which was played in South Africa, Angola lost 2-1.
After all, in the sum of the two matches, the teams were tied at 3-3, so nothing was decided in regular time, and it was necessary to resort to penalty shootouts to break the tie.
In the penalty shootout, Angola proved to be superior, winning 5-4.
"Welwitchias beat Zimbabwe in the penalty shootout (4x5), after a 3-3 draw, recorded over two legs", informs the Angolan Football Federation, in a note to which VerAngola had access.
The only goal for the team was scored again by Arminda Lopes, better known as 'Ary Papel', who had already scored twice in the first leg.
According to Angop, in the next phase, Angola will compete in the Malawi counterpart in October.
