Federation promises strict measures to combat corruption in football

The president of the Angolan Football Federation, Alves Simões, promised that he will implement strict measures to combat corruption in the sport and guaranteed greater attention to serious errors by referees.

:

“We will implement strict measures to combat corruption in Angolan football. If a manager offers you one million kwanzas to influence a match, write that in your reports and give me the money. I'll give you double,” he defended.

The measure, which aims to punish referees who repeatedly commit serious errors more harshly, also applies to referees who officiate matches in the second division of national football.

In recent years, cases of corruption in Angolan football, involving managers, coaches, referees, players and journalists, have been the subject of much debate, with criticism of alleged impunity for offenders.
