"We hope it can be held between 9 and 11 March", said the head of Timorese diplomacy, when questioned by Lusa, on the sidelines of a meeting with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to discuss the programme's priorities for the period 2026-2030, which is being held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dili.
Bendito Freitas stressed that this is the first visit by an Angolan President to the country and has a very important meaning for Timor-Leste.
"The first visit by a President of Angola has a very important meaning for us in terms of our state-building, especially the historical relationship, the bonds of friendship, the history between Timor-Leste and Angola", said the Timorese minister.
The Timorese Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmão, said last week that the Angolan head of state would be in the country in March, without specifying dates, for a visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
During his stay in Dili, João Lourenço is also expected to inaugurate the facilities of the Angolan embassy in Timor-Leste.
