China wants to increase investments in Angola and good trade results pave the way for new agreements

China is interested in increasing investment in Angola, especially in projects that promote the modernization of infrastructure. The intention was expressed by the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Zhang Bin, who also said that the positive results of trade exchanges “pave the way for new agreements”.

The Chinese diplomat's last two days were marked by meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, whose audiences served to discuss relations between Angola and China.

Thus, this Wednesday, the President of the Republic granted an audience to Zhang Bin, where "aspects related to bilateral relations" were discussed.

After the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Palace, the ambassador told the press that "the relationship between his country and Angola is on the right track, especially in the commercial and economic fields", according to a statement from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.

"The diplomat revealed that he also discussed with President João Lourenço the status of the construction works at the Port of Caio, in Cabinda, and the Caculo Cabaça dam, in the province of Cuanza Norte", the note reads.

On Tuesday, Zhang Bin held a meeting with Téte António, which served to review the "current state of cooperation between Angola and China, with a focus on economic, commercial and technical-scientific cooperation projects".

On the occasion, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which VerAngola had access, Zhang Bin reiterated "Chinese interest in increasing investments, especially in initiatives that promote the modernization of infrastructure".

The Chinese diplomat also said that "the positive results of trade exchanges pave the way for new agreements that boost the economy and social progress of the two countries."

In turn, Téte António highlighted the "importance of deepening cooperation with China, having highlighted that this has provided, among other benefits, the creation of jobs and cultural exchange".

"In this perspective, he mentioned the ongoing projects as an added value for both nations and reiterated Angola's willingness to expand the historical and friendly ties that unite both nations," the statement said.

The ministry also recalls that China continues to be the country's largest trading partner, "with bilateral revenue exceeding 23 billion dollars in 2024".
