Cholera cases surpass 3,500 and add three more deaths

Angola reported 141 more cases of cholera in the last 24 hours, for a total of 3,543, and three deaths, increasing the number of deaths to 117, according to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

Of the new cases, 92 were reported in Luanda province, 30 in Bengo province, 13 in Icolo and Bengo province, four in Cuanza Sul province and two in Malanje province, and three deaths were recorded in Luanda.

In the last 24 hours, 120 people were discharged, with 266 people hospitalized with cholera.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, a cumulative total of 3543 cases have been reported in ten provinces, with 1753 in Luanda Province, 1297 in Bengo Province, 446 in Icolo and Bengo Province, 20 in Cuanza Sul Province, seven in Malanje Province, six in Huambo Province, six in Huila Province, five in Zaire Province, two in Cuanza Norte Province and one in Cunene Province, with ages ranging from 2 to 100 years.

There have been 117 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak, of which 55 were in the province of Luanda, with the most affected age group being 2 to 5 years old, with 544 cases and 17 deaths, followed by the age group 10 to 14 years old, with 458 cases and eight deaths.
