Quoted by Angop, Maria Lina Antunes, general director of the hospital, reported that suppliers have been waiting for payment since June last year.
"We had an unexpected event, which is the delay in payment of withdrawal orders issued since June, the biggest embarrassment of all time, because we have many unpaid debts, because although we issued them, they were not paid and suppliers consider it debt", said the director, who did not reveal the amount of the debt.
According to the person in charge, they are going through a "crisis", as most suppliers "do not want to maintain delivery contracts, especially medicines, reagents, consumables, without payment".
"We are in a crisis right now," reinforced Maria Lina Antunes, who indicated hemodialysis as the service that currently causes the most concern.
"We are already experiencing some ruptures that we have never had before (...) and I would like to draw particular attention to hemodialysis. The hemodialysis center is a high-cost center, it costs a lot per month," she pointed out, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).
With more than 500 beds, the hospital unit has a monthly budget of 250 million kwanzas. However, according to Angop, there is a need to double this amount to face the impacts of inflation on the prices of medicines, maintenance, equipment and staff costs.
