The act of unveiling the plaque and cutting the ribbon was carried out by João Lourenço, after an institutional video presenting the project had been shown, says Angop, which adds that after this moment, the head of state, accompanied by the governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), as well as a member of the Executive, carried out a guided tour of the infrastructure.
According to a statement from the BNA, to which VerAngola had access, the inauguration of this project is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of national independence.
"The 'Casa do Kwanza', a logistics center for the storage, processing and distribution of cash, will reinforce the process of managing the country's currency", says the BNA, noting that its construction began in 2021.
"The project, whose work began in August 2021, occupies a 10-hectare plot and has an administrative building, technical support and operating buildings and a building for storing cash and precious metals, processing and destroying notes unfit for circulation", reads the note.
According to Angop, it has five strong houses: pallets, boxes, precious metals, gold and transition, all of which are completely automated and equipped with shelves and robots to store and move the money.
Its services also include rooms for automatic banknote processing, manual processing of banknotes and metal coins, as well as areas for destroying damaged banknotes, to serve commercial banks and to receive cash from the manufacturer.
Thus, with the start of operations of this project, the management of the currency will become more modern, efficient and secure, as well as allowing commercial banks to provide faster and safer services in terms of cash withdrawals and deposits, resulting in an improvement in the quality of services provided to people.
