The SIC, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, highlighted this historic achievement, having emphasized that, "for the first time in the history of the independent country", two women were appointed to the position of provincial directors of this body.
"For the first time in the history of the independent country, two women were appointed in the new provinces of Icolo e Bengo and Cubango, who will now hold the position of provincial directors of the SIC in these regions created under the New Political and Administrative Division", reads the note.
The new directors took office on Monday, in a ceremony that took place in the amphitheater of the SIC General Directorate, in Cacuaco. In addition to Alexandrina Monteiro and Conceição Nhanga, the new provincial director of the SIC in Moxico Leste, chief superintendent João Pedro Sango, also took office, "with the appointment of the director of the province of Cuando still to be scheduled in the coming days".
On the occasion, the general director of SIC, Luciano Tânio da Silva, who presided over the event, highlighted that "the inclusion of these women is just the beginning of many that will emerge, within the strategy of promoting the female presence in the management of the institution, as long as they prove their competence to do so".
Addressing those sworn in, the general director of that body "urged them to be prepared to face challenges of all kinds".
Quoted in the statement, he said that "it is precisely in facing these difficulties that they must find the courage and strength necessary to consolidate the name of the institution they lead."
