According to the head of department at Fundação Brilhante, the social face of the Angolan diamond subsector, the amount invested from 2017 to 2023 was used to execute 208 projects, mainly in mineral resource exploration areas.
Sidónio Borges, who was speaking this Thursday at the 'workshop' on social responsibility actions and projects in the mineral resources, oil and gas sector, explained that 145 social projects have already been completed over the years and the rest are in progress.
Education, which absorbed most of the resources, health, professional technical training, economic development, "with a greater focus on the east of the country", environment, sport, literature and scientific research were the areas invested.
And the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) highlighted, on the occasion, that electricity and communications in remote areas make it difficult to efficiently execute social projects, adding to the lack of involvement and active participation of communities in the design and implementation of projects.
For ANPG, high illiteracy rates and low levels of education make it difficult for communities to understand and participate in social projects and understand that education is crucial to guarantee the sustainability of initiatives.
And it also lists the reduction of pockets of poverty, promotion of development and inclusion in communities and health and well-being as some of the impacts of social investments in communities.
