Empowerment of women and young people, and greater rapprochement and partnerships between these States, in light of the new Samoa Agreement, are the main objectives of the meeting, according to a statement from the National Assembly of Angola.

The agreement, which applies to more than two billion people, aims to strengthen the ability of the EU and ACP countries to jointly respond to global challenges. The agreement establishes common principles and covers topics such as sustainable development and growth, human rights, peace and security.

In anticipation of the meetings, which have as their motto "A New Dawn in OEACP-EU Relations: Towards a Partnership Led by the People", the 64th session of the OEACP Parliamentary Assembly will take place on Sunday.

The solemn opening session will take place on Wednesday, February 21, at the National Assembly in Luanda, Angola, and will be chaired by Portuguese MEP Carlos Zorrinho and Mozambican deputy Ana Rita Sithole, co-presidents of the Joint Assembly.

Beforehand, on Monday, the European delegation will visit a project on education, teaching and technical-professional training at the Faculty of Engineering of the Agostinho Neto University.

Meetings of the four assemblies will take place over the three days: Towards a citizen-led partnership: perspectives from the Pacific-EU Parliamentary Assembly; Towards a citizen-led partnership: perspectives from the Caribbean-EU Parliamentary Assembly; Towards a citizen-led partnership: perspectives from the Africa-EU Parliamentary Assembly; and New impetus for OEACP-EU relations: Towards a citizen-oriented partnership.
