The proposed Anti-Doping in Sports Law, considered by the Council of Ministers on January 17th, will be the sole point of Wednesday's extraordinary plenary meeting and will be considered urgently.
The legal diploma in question was sent to parliament for discussion and approval with a view to adjusting it to the Constitution and the International Code on the matter, according to the authorities.
With the approval of the proposed Anti-Doping in Sports Law, the executive intends to continue promoting the cultural and moral education of citizens, the protection of the health of athletes, support staff and other sports agents, through the fight against the use of substances and prohibited methods.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Palmira Barbosa said, in January at the end of the first extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers, that the law in force, which establishes the legal regime for the fight against doping in sport, presents “nonconformities” with the Constitution and with the World Anti-Doping Code.
