Florbela Araújo recebe em audiência o escritor Cesário Sousa Domingos

Cesário Domingos recently presented his first scientific work, entitled “The Victim in the Angolan Penal Legal System”, which was received by the Ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, this Thursday.

The meeting between the writer – and columnist for VerAngola – and a government official, took place at the headquarters of the Ombudsman's Office, located in the Palace of Justice, Cidade Alta de Luanda.

The author presented his work, which addresses the treatment given to victims of crimes by the courts, and, in general, the protection of citizens' rights and guarantees – as victims of criminal offenses – "which places us not only within the scope of activities of the justice and criminal police bodies, but also within the actions of the Ombudsman, which under the terms of paragraph 1 of article 192 of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola, represents an independent public entity whose objective is the defense of citizens' rights, freedoms and guarantees, ensuring, through informal means, justice and the legality of Public Administration activity.

Cesário Sousa explains that this work aims to "help the Ombudsman to intervene in the field of relations between citizens who are victims of crimes and the bodies and other agents of the Justice Administration System in Angola".

"I hope that the author will be successful in this noble scientific-scientific mission, since the country needs a lot in terms of legislation and the consequent materialization of laws that regulate such crimes that have been putting into question the rights, freedoms and fundamental guarantees of citizens ", stated the Ombudsman at the end of the meeting.

The Ombudsman's consultant, Carolina da Rosa, the section head of the Department of Institutional Communication and Press, as well as the IT technician from the Ombudsman's Office, Nelson Zacarias, were also present at the hearing.
