"As engineers, we want to contribute to improving the conditions of the population, where each neighborhood has running water, energy, decent housing, as well as basic sanitation and improved national public health," said the president, quoted by Angop.

According to the regulations, to which VerAngola had access, this competition – presented by the president – aims to "encourage the study of resolving the problems of musseques" that exist in some cities in the country, "through the development and presentation of projects that, properly framed and contextualized, respond effectively" to the question 'How to eradicate degraded neighborhoods with precarious housing?'.

Therefore, those interested in participating can submit their application electronically to the email geral@ordemengenheiros.ao, using a form available on the order's website until September 30th of this year.

The organization's regulations also indicate that are eligible applications from teams composed of three elements "in co-authorship (mandatory condition) coming from Engineering and Architecture courses at any University or Polytechnic Higher Education Institution, Public or Private in Angola, presented by the group of all project authors and in which at least one of the team members comes from a civil engineering course".

The prize will be presented to the winning team in December this year. First place will be awarded 10,000 euros, while second place will receive 5,000 euros and third place will receive 2,500 euros.

According to the president, cited by Angop, this competition is at national level and extends to citizens of Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).

Among the eligibility criteria is the fact that they must be "students in the academic year 2023/2024, including finalists, of Engineering and Architecture courses at any University or Polytechnic Higher Education Institution, Public or Private in Angola (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD)", the regulation also states.

The jury will have 13 members and will be chaired by the president of the order, Augusto Paulino Neto. In addition, the panel of judges will also include a representative from the ministries of Higher Education, Sciences, Technology and Innovation, Public Works, Urbanism and Housing and the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Tecnologias e Ciências, with the former president of the order, José Dias, as well as with the representative of the Angolan Association of Designers and Consultants, Neusa e Silva English.
