First 17 recovered tank wagons are back in circulation

The first 17 tank wagons – with a capacity to transport 54 cubic meters of diesel fuel – which were recently recovered as part of the partial recapitalization that the Luanda Railway (CFL) benefited from, are now in circulation again, and are currently carrying out the first experimental trips between Luanda and Malanje.

In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the CFL informs that the aforementioned 17 tank wagons "have just been recovered as part of the partial recapitalization that the CFL benefited from and are already carrying out the first experimental trips between the Muceques stations in Luanda and the Sonangol Logistics Center in Malanje".

The CFL also refers that, during this week, "the experiments continue" and that "the provisional results presented so far have been satisfactory, with the trains that have been manned by experienced drivers" responding to the expectations of the technicians.

According to the statement, the lot of 20 tank wagons purchased in China in 2011 were stopped due to the lack of wave breakers, "which made the circulation impracticable and unsafe" for these locomotives.

With the funding received from the State last year, "it was possible to carry out a public tender for its recovery", with the company SMVF - Sociedade Comercial Industrial winning, "whose work is in the final stretch, with the last three wagons yet to be completed, which are expected to be concluded next March", says the CFL.

The partial recapitalization, adds the note, includes, among other things, the recovery of rolling stock that is stopped due to deep damage.
