According to the announcement made by Eduardo Machado, chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Angolan Bonded Warehouse, the Strategic Food Reserve (REA) plans, this year, to purchase 540,000 tonnes of domestic product at a fixed cost.

Thus, the reserve will try to obtain the referred tons to modify part of the supply of substance for consumption of the current year, according to the official, cited by Angop.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 1st National Industry and Commerce Forum, Eduardo Machado took the opportunity to recall that last year REA placed 775,000 tonnes of products on the market, 40,000 of which of corn derived from national production, writes Angop.

The productive field, he added, is getting better, and it has already been achieved, "with regard to maize, supplying the need for the reserve with national production".

"Let's talk about processing, which is the industrial part, then trade, which is the part that has to do with food self-sufficiency, and the function of the reserve is to regulate and stabilize the price", added the also coordinator of the REA, quoted by Angop.

The event, which took place this Friday, took place under the motto "The Challenges of Food Self-sufficiency" and had as its main objective aligning the strategic perspective of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce with the vision of the various players in the sector, analyzing together the challenges and opportunities for the development of the food and related industries.
