According to the program to which Lusa had access, the arrival is scheduled for Monday, but the official visit begins only on Tuesday with a trip to Praça da República - where the António Agostinho Neto Memorial is located and the tomb of former president José Eduardo dos Santos, who died last year - preceding a meeting with the head of state, João Lourenço.

At the Presidential Palace, a decoration ceremony and the signing of agreements are scheduled, followed in the afternoon by a visit to the Banco Económico and a meeting with the Spanish community.

According to sources contacted by Lusa, three memorandums of understanding will be signed: one in the area of diplomatic training, another on industry 4.0 and a third related to sports.

On the other hand, the Banco Económico building will host a presentation by the International University of Cuanza (Cuíto, Bié), which opened in October 2021, and two exhibitions dedicated to the Catalan painter Joan Miró.

The business forum, which brings together businessmen from both countries, will take place on Wednesday.

On the same day, the kings of Spain also visit the National Assembly and the Museum of Military History, before returning to the country in the afternoon.

This is the first state visit of the kings of Spain to a sub-Saharan African country and is awaited "with particular enthusiasm", as stated by Felipe VI when announcing the trip.

The king highlighted the efforts that Spain has made to increase the number of embassies in Africa, as well as "the increase in contacts at different levels" with African countries.

The head of state of Spain added that Africa is "a vast and plural continent, with infinite needs and full of possibilities for cooperation", with a view to its development.
