Ministry of Finance and AfDB evaluate strategies for the 2024-2028 period

Vera Daves, Minister of Finance, received, on Monday, a mission from the African Development Bank (AfDB), which is in the country for a day of dialogue on the preparation of a new Strategy Document for the period 2024-2028 (CSP 2024-2028).

During its visit to the country, which will run until next Friday (March 3), the AfDB mission intends to better assess the Executive's priorities in relation to the strategic work carried out by the bank, address the role of the financial entity, as well as how to evaluate the results of the 2017-2021 CSP, extended to this year, informs the Ministry of Finance, in a statement made available to VerAngola.

"The mission intends, during this trip, to assess in depth the Government's priorities in relation to the strategic work carried out by the AfDB, discuss the role of the aforementioned financial institution, evaluate the results of the 2017-2021 CSP, extended to 2023, taking into account that the The preparation process of the New CSP 2024-2028 also includes the Completion Report of the current strategy and the Diagnosis Note that provides basic information for the New CSP", reads the note.

In addition to the conversations around the Country Diagnosis Note and the 2017-2023 CSP Completion Report, the AfDB delegation also has meetings on the bank's "Indicative Operation Plan, portfolio implementation and cooperation with authorities and other stakeholders, sharing guiding lessons on the bank's future cooperation with the country, identifying strategic areas for medium-term cooperation through the new CSP 2024-2028, the Country Portfolio Performance Review and the presentation of economic studies that provide insights, thus contributing to the definition of priorities", adds the statement.

Furthermore, the AfDB team, which is visiting the country until next Friday, March 3rd, will also hold meetings with other ministerial departments, namely the Ministry of Economy and Planning, Transport, Energy and Water, Agriculture and with the National Bank of Angola.

At the meeting this Monday, which took place at the Ministry of Finance, the holder of the Finance portfolio was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel do Santos, the Secretary of State for Planning, Milton Reis and the Director from the Office of Studies and International Relations, Patrício Neto.

It should be noted that the country has been a regional member of the AfDB since 1980, with the first loan operations with the said financial institution dating back to 1983. "Since then, the AfDB has approved a total of 53 loans and grants to Angola in the amount of billion dollars in various sectors, such as agriculture, fisheries, energy, water and sanitation, transport, finance, governance, private sector development, environment, among others", completes the statement.
