According to a statement from the Angolan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, accessed by VerAngola, the national delegation is led by the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos.
"The Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos, heads a delegation from his department to the United Arab Emirates, which will participate, from the 20th to the 24th of this month, in the 16th edition of the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) and at the 7th Naval Defense and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) opened simultaneously, today [Monday], in Abu Dhabi, the political and administrative capital of the United Arab Emirates", reads the note.
The embassy also mentions that the events, which take place "under the high patronage of the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan", will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), where they will be "represented more than 1350 companies linked to the Defense and Security sector from 65 countries".
"Following the inauguration of the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2023) by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the UAE Presidential Court, Minister João Ernesto dos Santos, accompanied by the Secretary of State for Military Industry, Afonso Carlos Neto, and the Angolan ambassador to this Middle East country, Albino Malungo, visited several pavilions where companies are profiled that are presenting recent products and technologies in the defense industry", adds the statement.
For this Tuesday, February 21, the minister and his delegation have scheduled other meetings with companies "that offer the opportunity to establish partnerships with Angola.
According to the statement, IDEX 2023 is "one of the most significant defense exhibitions in the world and the largest in the Middle East region", coinciding with "the 30th anniversary of the pioneering launch of the event in 1993".
The conference, adds the note, takes place under the central theme "Adaptation, Exploration, Transformation: Reimagining Security, Society and the Human Experience in an era of Disruption".
At NAVDEX, "several ships from seven countries, namely, Pakistan, Bahrain, United Kingdom, Italy, China, India and the United Arab Emirates" profile.
