More than 7000 internal scholarships available this year

Eugénio Silva, Secretary of State for Higher Education, informed that the Government will provide a total of 7,500 internal scholarships this year. The official informed that of the 7500 scholarships, 6000 will be destined to graduations while the remaining 1500 will be directed to post graduations.

Speaking to ANGOP, at the end of a meeting between the National Institute of Scholarships (Inagbe) and administrators of some public and private higher education institutions, Eugénio Silva referred that the obstacles that caused the delays in the validation of the scholarships for some students, as well as an attempt to find answers to reduce the impact on students.

He also left the guarantee that in the next two weeks the delays will be normalized, clarifying that internal issues of the institutions made it impossible to renew the scholarships of more than 500 students.

Milton Chivala, director of Inagbe, also quoted by Angop, indicated that three institutions are in an alarming scenario, as they still have the largest number of students with scholarships to be validated. However, he did not reveal which institutions are concerned.

He took the opportunity to clarify that the process of validation and renewal of grants should have been completed at the end of last year, but, due to various reasons, it is estimated that it will only be completed in the next few days.

Angola currently has around 21,000 internal scholarship holders.
