Proposals on the Right of Popular Action and Petition approved in the specialty

The bills on the Right of Popular Action and the Right to Petition saw the 'green light' this Thursday. The diplomas, approved in the specialty, aim to reinforce the exercise of citizenship.

The final global vote on the documents will take place at the next plenary session of the National Assembly, scheduled for the end of February.

Cited by Jornal de Angola, João Pinto, from the MPLA, referred that the discussion of the proposals was impartial, since doubts and suggestions were exposed as well as contributions to improve the diplomas.

Mihaela Webba, from UNITA, considered that "many corrections were made. Probably, the diplomas can actually come out better than they came in. However, they are made by men and there may still be some mistakes".

Despite agreeing with the two documents, Mihaela Webba said she is against the union of the two proposals, explaining that they are different issues.

"In the petition, the complaint, the waiver, the claim and there is no direct appeal to the courts based on the exercise of these rights. already denotes that the scope of application of one or the other law is effectively different. Let's hope that both are approved in a final vote", he explained, also quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The proposed Law on the Right to Popular Action is a Government initiative that seeks to establish the legal framework for popular action to be exercised before administrative litigation bodies.

The draft Law on the Right to Petition is a UNITA initiative that aims to regulate and guarantee the exercise of the right of petition by citizens.
