In this way, the Prodesi - Production Support Program, Export Diversification and Import Substitution, distinguished Fabrimetal with high performance diplomas in the categories of 3rd company in the non-oil sector that exports the most and the largest producer of iron and steel from Angola.

The program has its origins in accelerating the process of diversifying the national economy. To this end, it prioritizes the promotion of production and exports in the non-oil sectors, as well as in sectors with a strong potential for import substitution.

"It is very gratifying for us to see the work we have been developing in the country recognized. With Angolans, for Angolans", said Luís Diogo, director general of Fabrimetal, in a statement sent to VerAngola.

The official noted that the year 2021 went "significantly well" for the company and according to budget, although there was a negative impact with the sudden increase in the cost of sea freight in the last half of the year.

"We produced 108,000 tons compared to 73,800 tons in 2020 and on the other hand we exported 28,900 tons against 19,500 tons in 2020", he advanced.

Regarding the materials produced by the company, the official said that at the moment they export more 'billete', a product produced by melting scraps with the addition of other chemical elements in high temperature ovens, which are later used to obtain other products ( steel, angle and bars), through a hot rolling process.

For 2022, the company expects to increase production levels by around 44 percent, while exports this year aim to reach 60,000 tons, an increase of 32,000 tons.

With regard to social responsibility, this year the company aims to continue the project started in 2021: the construction of a training center in the community next to the factory, a project budgeted at around 45 million kwanzas.

"It is part of our values to integrate into the communities that surround us, supporting them in matters of education and health. The workforce that we have in the company comes mostly from these communities and as such, it is imperative for us to support them. ", said the official.

"On the other hand, we are well aware of the increase in income that we generate in the country, namely in the communities that surround us, both for the employment generated and for the contribution we make to the formalization of the economy, acquiring most of our raw material in the local market. ", concluded Luís Diogo.
