Minister of Health opens Baía Farta General Hospital

The Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, inaugurated, this Thursday, February 3, the General Hospital of Baía Farta (Benguela), which has 150 beds.

According to a note from the Ministry of Health, made available on its Facebook, after its opening, the hospital unit received the first patients: "The General Hospital of Baía Farta, in the province of Benguela, received the first patients this Thursday, 3 February, after its inauguration by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta".

This hospital, says the tutelage, will make it possible to take care of cases that previously needed "to be transferred to the Provincial Hospital, which has services of Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neonatology, Stomatology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Maternity, Intensive Care, Hemotherapy, Laboratory, plus a kitchen and laundry".

The new hospital has 150 beds and meets all the conditions of a second-level health unit.

Cited in the note, the health minister admitted that this hospital will "contribute to the improvement of health indicators in the municipality and province through the audit and monitoring of deaths, particularly maternal, neonatal and child deaths".

Sílvia Lutucuta also assured that the training supervision will help to improve the skills and action of technicians at the centres, health posts and municipal hospital, aiming to respond in a timely manner to the emergence of a possible epidemic, collaborating to build a resilient health system both to municipal and provincial level.

The note also notes that the National Health System was also strengthened with the inauguration of the Medicines Depot in Benguela, which has an area of ​​2300 square meters and is divided into two air-conditioned zones, with refrigeration chests and systems that ensure the medical product safety.

Regarding the deposit, the minister expressed "enormous joy" for opening it, referring that "the deposit represents another fundamental pillar of the National Health System", as part of the path traced to "improve access to safe medical products and the provision of intensive care health services".
