Sonangol assures there is no shortage of gas

Sonangol assured that there is no shortage of gas, with availability of this product to meet the demand of the national market.

:

"The Gas and Renewable Energy Business Unit of Sonangol makes the general public aware that there is gas availability to meet the demand of the national market", reads a statement made available on the flagship oil company's website.

According to the note, the guarantee comes after last week there was an increase in demand for gas.

However, despite this increase, Sonangol says it has the situation "controlled with the reinforcement of filling and distribution operations, which ensures sufficient quantities to restore normality".

The oil company also adds that "from an operational point of view, a new storage unit was interconnected to the production system, without the need to interrupt production, given the availability of intermediate reservoirs and the use of gas from the Refinery of Luanda".

Thus, the company appeals for calm, recommending citizens not to adhere to "purchasing at speculative prices, much less from dealers not licensed for the proper marketing of butane gas".

According to Angop, in the Maianga neighbourhood, the 12-kilogram bottle of gas is being resold at 3,500 kwanzas when previously the price was fixed at 2,000 kwanzas.

Angop also found that at the gas station in the Futungo neighbourhood, there was a flood of people trying to buy the last bottles at a value of 1,200 kwanzas, and in the same place, retailers were selling the bottle for 2,500 kwanzas.
