About 10,000 people were involved in the cleanup campaign. Several entities participated: residents, police, army, cleaning companies, churches, political parties, highlighting the presence of Luísa Damião, vice president of MPLA.

According to Angop, the campaign started in the early hours of Monday morning in the Urban District of Ingombota, where more than 800 people gathered. With shovels and brooms in their hands, the participants swept Dr. António Agostinho Neto, Américo Boavida and Comandante Arguel streets.

The streets of Maianga were also cleaned as well as the open air drainage ditches and the gutters, thus allowing a better drainage of the fluvial and residual waters.

Another highlight was the presence of Luísa Damião, MPLA's vice-president, who participated in the cleaning of the streets in Kilamba Kiaxi municipality. The responsible highlighted the added value of a clean and healthy environment, stating that it is necessary to increase the level of awareness of the citizens for this matter.

She admitted that as a citizen she has the duty to participate in this type of campaigns, encouraging everyone to fight for a better quality of life.

Joana Lina, governor of the province of Luanda, who was also present at the event, considered that Luanda is going through a complicated moment in terms of garbage collection and that the citizens should unite to support the capital.

The governor, cited by Angop, said that soon there will be a solution to the problem of urban waste, including the replacement of containers.

In Cacuaco, Joana Lina left an advice to the "zungueiras": that they should sell their products in appropriate places, enabling a better garbage management.

Francisco Manuel Domingos, local administrator of the Urban District of Rangel, made it known that, as part of the campaign, the main focuses of garbage in the streets Lino Amezaga, Hoje-Ya-Henda and Soba Mandume were removed. In the streets of the Vila Alice neighborhood the cleaning was done by an operator.

In Viana, about 200 policemen from the municipal police command were part of the cleaning campaign. This municipality is considered by the government of Luanda as one of the most critical in terms of basic sanitation.

In Cazenga, according to Maria Martes Mendes, deputy municipal administrator for technical area, more than 800 people moved dump trucks and compactors, among other machines to clean the municipality.

In the municipalities of Icolo, Bengo and Quiçama, several residents cleaned the streets using trucks. One of the residents in Quiçama, Cristina Cristóvão, considered that besides these campaigns, the Government should create conditions for citizens to obtain profit from the sale and recycling of garbage.

As for Talatona, one of the few municipalities of the capital that still has a garbage operator operating, the sweeping and garbage collection works continue as usual.
