The official, in an interview on Angolan Public Television cited by Angop, explained that the PIIM works have suffered some delays due to covid-19, but indicated that it is estimated that by the end of next year 90 percent of the works will be concluded.
He also revealed that in eight of the country's provinces, municipal administrative infrastructures are being built, and in other provinces, administration facilities will be rehabilitated.
The PIIM integrates a total of 1749 projects, of which 1500 are already validated, 85 have already been concluded and 55 are almost finished. Of the total number of projects, 1400 have already paid their bills.
About 94 percent of these projects are the responsibility of the State's local administration bodies and the remaining six percent are the responsibility of ministerial departments.
The coordinator of the technical group of the PIIM also made it known that the social sector is the priority of the plan, with emphasis on the areas of health, education and communications, which have been allocated about 12 percent of the total value of the project, each.
He also said that the provinces of Luanda, Huíla, Moxico and Bié are the ones that are better positioned in terms of the execution of the works. Cabinda and Cuando Cubango are further behind, and are reevaluating their projects and defining new priorities.
The PIIM, an initiative of the President of the Republic, was launched in June 2019. The plan, which has a total value of two billion dollars coming from the Sovereign Fund, has as its main objective to increase the autonomy of the country's 164 municipalities, decentralizing administrative powers, increasing the quality of life of the population by carrying out projects adjusted to the needs of each municipality.
