Covid-19: country with 56 more cases, one death and 14 recovered patients

The country has recorded 56 new infections of the new coronavirus, one more death, and 14 patients considered recovered in the last 24 hours, the secretary of state for public health announced.

According to Franco Mufinda, the cases were registered in Luanda (42), Cabinda (6), Benguela (2), Huambo (2), Lunda Norte (1) and Malanje, with ages between 2 and 75 years, of which 30 were male and the rest female.

A 28-year-old Angolan died, in the province of Luanda, and 14 people were considered recovered from the disease, aged between 34 and 66.

Angola has accumulated, since the beginning of the pandemic, 20,640 cases, of which 501 have died, 918 are active, including one in critical condition and 11 in serious condition, and 19,221 have recovered from the disease.

Laboratories have processed 1288 samples, for a total of 389,723 analyses.

Since January 16, 14,032 travelers were tested at Luanda International Airport, of which 42 tested positive post-departure.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,486,116 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 112 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
