Covid-19: country with 29 more cases and 177 patients recovered from the disease

The country registered 29 more cases of covid-19 and 177 more cases considered recovered from the disease, in the last 24 hours, announced this Monday the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

The infections were reported in Luanda (15), Cabinda (6), Zaire (6), Huila (1) and Lunda Sul (1), and the ages range from 14 to 65 years, with 18 of the infected being male and the rest female.

Of the 177 patients reported recovered, 114 were in Luanda, 44 in Huambo, 12 in Benguela, five in Bié, one in Lunda Norte and one in Zaire, aged between 8 months and 77 years.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Angola has notified 20,548 cases, of which 499 have died, corresponding to a case fatality rate of 2.4 percent.

Another 19,190 people have recovered and 859 are in the active phase of the disease, of which three are in critical condition and 10 in serious condition.

A total of 1036 samples have been processed out of a cumulative 387,507, he added.

Since January 16, 13,725 travelers were also tested upon arrival at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, of which 41 presented positive results (antigen test).

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,466,453 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 111 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
