Country registers three more deaths and 51 new cases per covid-19 in 24 hours

The country added three more deaths and 51 new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours, as well as 27 patients considered recovered, Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta announced Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 31 were registered in the province of Luanda and eight in Huambo, three in Bié, three in Huila, two in Benguela, two in Malange, one in Moxico and one in Lunda Norte, with ages ranging from 3 months to 88 years, 28 males and 23 females.

According to the health authorities, three deaths were also registered, aged between 37 and 70 years old, all Angolans, being the victims two women and one man.

Twenty-seven people were considered recovered from the disease, of which 10 in Luanda, eight in Lunda Norte, eight in Bié and one in Luanda, aged between 14 and 63.

The Health Minister noted that the country now totals 20,163 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, including 478 deaths.

According to the minister, 18,623 people have been reported recovered, and 1062 active cases have been registered.

Among the active cases, nine are in critical condition and 12 are in serious condition.

During the last day, laboratories processed 1049 samples, for a cumulative 370,581 samples.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,325,744 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 106.4 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

According to the most recent data from the African Union Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the number of infected on this continent since the beginning of the pandemic is 3,667,546 and the number of deaths 95,075.

The first case of covid-19 in Africa appeared in Egypt on February 14, and Nigeria was the first sub-Saharan African country to record cases of infection on February 28.

Covid-19 is a respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
