Meteorological institute warns of bad weather in southern provinces

The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (Inamet) warned this Monday about bad weather, in the next 24 hours, in the provinces of Cunene and Cuando-Cubango, in the south of the country, where "heavy rains accompanied by electrical discharges" are expected.

:

In a statement, Inamet said that the provinces of Cunene and Cuando Cubango, especially in some of its municipalities, are the areas with a strong likelihood of heavy rain occurring between 18:00 on Monday and Tuesday.

The document, which did not specify the reasons for the alert, recommended only "precautionary and safety measures in view of the risk of electrical discharges".

The south of Angola has also been affected by the drought, which is reflected in the socio-economic condition of the populations, mostly dedicated to subsistence agriculture and pastoralism.
