Entrepreneur Isabel dos Santos said this Thursday that her companies have taken out bank loans of 571 million euros in Portugal in recent years, with 180 million euros outstanding.

In a statement sent this Thursday to the Lusa, Isabel dos Santos, who has the bank accounts seized as part of the request for cooperation from the Angolan judiciary to the portuguese authorities, confirms that she has appealed against that decision by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which claims to be affecting the management of her companies in Portugal.

She also explains that "over the last few years" the "majority European companies" she holds "have taken out bank loans in Portugal worth around 571 million euros".

"So far, of this total loan financing, around 391 million euros have been paid, with 180 million euros still to be reimbursed", reads the communiqué, in which the businesswoman warns that "contrary to what has happened in Angola", with the seizure decreed at the end of December by the court in Luanda, in Portugal the "Justice understood to seize and freeze bank accounts, blocking any movement".

The situation is, he says, preventing payments from companies to workers, suppliers and taxes, among others.

"At no time did any of my companies fail to pay a single instalment of these credits", the businesswoman points out, in the same communiqué in which she warns of the consequences for the management of companies, because they allegedly cannot make payments.

For the entrepreneur, the situation represents "a serious risk of value destruction for all the stakeholders" of the companies in which she has an interest.
