The President of UNITA revealed, in an interview with DW, that the immunity of Manuel Vicente can be lifted. Adalberto Costa Júnior's response comes after João Lourenço, also in an interview with DW, spoke about the former vice-president's case. The President of the Republic said that the fact that the case in which Manuel Vicente is accused of bribing a portuguese public prosecutor was referred to Angola is not synonymous with "acquittal", but pointed out that Manuel Vicente cannot be tried because he is protected by immunity for five years.

The leader of UNITA, in response to statements by João Lourenço, admitted that immunities can be lifted. "There is no limitation to a request to lift immunities, not least because it is clearly in question whether or not it is considered extremely important for Angola to handle these files", he said.

As for the JES government and the government of João Lourenço, Adalberto Costa Júnior considered that it is difficult to separate the two administrations and that there are many doubts about the effectiveness of the fight against corruption.

The party leader also said he believed that during the JES government there were members of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) who were not indifferent: "There are rulers who also participated in the banquet," he said.

He also criticized the government of João Lourenço, considering that there is no transparency regarding the repatriation of capital and that there must be a separation of powers in the State.

Finally, Adalberto Costa Júnior commented on the 'Luanda Leaks' case, which has been in the mouths of the world in recent weeks. "What we are witnessing is a marimbondos fight, all of them. There is no doubt that the MPLA has institutionalized corruption in our country. Those responsible who accumulated these assets were yesterday in the political bureau and are today in the political bureau", he said.
