In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the government of the province of Luanda (GPL) announced the birth of the first baby of the year at the aforementioned hospital. "The Luanda General Hospital, located in the municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, welcomed with joy the birth of the first baby of 2025. The girl, who was named Olízia Martins, was born weighing 3,330 kg", it reads in the note.
The baby was born at 00:54am, and the birth was uneventful. According to Verónica Dedé, midwife, both the first baby of the year and her mother are in a stable clinical condition.
"The baby is stable and has normal vital signs. At the moment, she has good vitality," said the midwife, who, cited by Jornal de Angola, added that the mother also has a stable clinical condition.
Still talking about the mother's condition, the professional added that she is being clinically observed in the surgical center and after six hours she will be transferred to the gynecology inpatient ward for more effective monitoring.
"The expected medical discharge will only be within two days and depends on the evolution of the parturient woman's clinical condition", she added.
The mother, Anacleta Fernando, resident of the Benfica neighborhood and who is 41 years old, welcomed her sixth daughter.
According to the GPL statement, the deputy governor for Technical Area and Infrastructure, Calunga Francisco Zage Quissanga, visited the first baby of the year and her family.
"This moment of great significance was especially celebrated with the visit of the vice-governor for the Technical and Infrastructure Area, Calunga Francisco Zage Quissanga, who followed the event closely and demonstrated the support of the provincial authorities for families and health professionals", says the note.
According to Jornal de Angola, vice-governor Calunga Quissanga offered a layette for the newborn.
"It's another member to increase in the statistics of women and gender. We hope it grows up in good health", said the person responsible, at the time.
