Born in Luanda, son of Evaristo Honório Bastos Junior and Carolina Rodrigues de Almeida, Cirineu Cruz de Jesus Honório Bastos was born on April 25, 1945.

He became famous as a singer, composer and actor, despite taking his first artistic steps as a dancer. The artist turned the gatherings, which were very frequent in his youth, into a source of knowledge and passion for Angolan culture.

As a young man, he enchanted audiences by performing songs by Brazilian Roberto Carlos, having worked as musical and theatrical director of the group "Botafogo", where he attended the famous parties at the 'terrace of the oldest Jacinto', in the Marçal neighborhood, recalls Angop.

He later decided to pursue a solo career, after having been part of groups such as 'Os Gingas' and 'Fogo Negro'. He also attended the first public performances of 'Negoleiros do Ritmo'.

In cinema, he participated in films such as 'Massacre da Kiminha' and the first version of 'Trem da Canhoca', by Angolan Orlando Fortunato. He was also part of the cast of several soap operas, including 'Between Crime and Passion' and 'My Land, My Mother'.

Reactions to the artist's death were not long in coming, with the Provincial Government of Luanda immediately issuing a note of condolences in which it remembers the artist as part of Luanda's culture, speaking of an "irreparable loss".
