Witnesses at the scene said that the vehicle, which was traveling on Avenida Cónego Manuel das Neves, in the São Paulo neighborhood, in Luanda, lost its brakes and then collided with people who were at a public transport stop, with no fatalities.

After hitting people, the vehicle also collided with another vehicle and a motorbike that were parked in the area, a scenario that generated an uproar and commotion among those present.

According to members of the public who witnessed the accident, the vehicle in question was driven by a national police officer, who left the scene in the face of public anger, who then burned the vehicle.

To journalists, the spokesperson for the Luanda Provincial Command of the National Police, Nestor Goubel, denied that the driver was a member of the corporation and said that the driver was already detained.

"This is a normal citizen who was involved in this accident. He is already detained and it is not true that the vehicle belongs to the police", said the spokesperson, highlighting that the driver had to take refuge in one of the apartments in the area while waiting for the police.

Images circulating on social media portray the presence of a national police officer, alleged perpetrator of the accident, being escorted by corporation personnel, amid protests from the population.

Nestor Goubel also regretted the attitude of the population who, after the incident, burned the vehicle.
