According to information published on the competition's official website, cited by Angop, the Angolan was selected as the first assistant for the match, which will be whistled by the South African referee Abongile Tom.
The position of second assistant will be occupied by Kwasi Acheapong Brobbey, from Ghana, also being part of the list of referees for the inaugural game Samuel Uwikunda, from Rwanda, and Massa Diarra, from Mauritrania, as fourth official and commissioner for the game, respectively.
Angola's debut in the competition scheduled for Monday
Angola is included in group D, along with the selections of Mali and Mauritania.
The 'Palancas Negras' – who were in a pre-competitive stage in the Algarve (Portugal) until January 11th – have their debut scheduled for next Monday, January 16th, in a game against their counterpart from Mali. The second match of the national team will take place on the 20th of January, against Mauritania.
It should be noted that among those called up for the competition, there are two players who 'treaded' the pitches of the previous edition, which took place in Morocco: Tó Carneiro (defender of Petro de Luanda) and Herenilson do Carmo (midfielder of 1.º de Agosto ).
The competition, taking place in Algeria until February 4, kicks off this Friday, with the first game to be played between the Algerian and Libyan teams, at the Nelson Mandela stadium.
According to Angop, CHAN 2023 will feature some innovations, highlighting the implementation, for the first time, of the video referee (VAR) in all matches, as well as the fact that it is the first edition to count on the participation of 18 selections, among others.
