Government pays 15 billion kwanzas to contain ravines in Lunda Norte

The President of the Republic authorized the expenditure of 15.09 billion kwanzas for works to contain and stabilize ravines in the province of Lunda Norte.

:

In a Dispatch, dated 19 January, João Lourenço authorizes the expenditure and the opening of the Emergency Contracting Procedure for the award of contracts, to restore road traffic in those locations and limit the impact of ravines.

For the province of Lunda Norte, the Executive indicated that the ravines of four municipalities, namely Chitato, Cuango, Cuilo and Lucapa, were urgent to be intervened in this first phase, says a statement from the Executive to which VerAngola had access.

According to Presidential Order n.º 07/23, the emergency procedure was chosen because another type of hiring is not advisable, "due to its slowness", taking into account the accelerated progression of ravines in several locations in the province of Lunda Norte, where there are 84.

The Executive's intervention is aimed at preserving housing infrastructure, roads, consumer goods and the water supply system, thus avoiding the destruction and damage that can be caused by ravines, the document also mentions.

Around 742 ravines were inventoried throughout the country by the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing.
