Yetwene Mining Project with start-up scheduled for the current financial year

The Yetwene Mining Project plans to produce 3000 carats a month. The forecast is based on the project's indicators, which indicate that with the start of exploration, conjectured for the current economic year, production will be positioned, in a first phase, at 3000 carats of diamonds per month.

According to Pedro Domingos, acting director of Mining Operations for the project – located in the Camissombo commune, Lucapa municipality, Lunda Norte province – the reassessment activities of the reserves, following a geological study, revealed that there are nine validated blocks by mine experts.

Cited by Jornal de Angola, the official also made it known that the actions are currently focused on finalizing the geological report, to be sent to Endiama, with a view to starting diamond exploration.

Pedro Domingos also referred that the exhibition fundamentally intends to check the reality of what is being carried out in terms of reassessing the potential of the mine blocks.

"We are in the final phase of prospecting and the geological report, the basis of which will allow the implementation of advances for future production, within a period to be established by Endiama", said the official, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

In terms of potential, according to Pedro Domingos, the blocks are calculated with a margin of 966,000 carats from an area called "Frente Chicapa", covering another called "Lumanha", where a revaluation is also planned, writes the Jornal de Angola.

The official, who was recently speaking to the press, also mentioned that the average production of 3,000 carats of diamonds per month derives from the reason that, in the first stage, two shifts were determined (from 06:00 am to 2 pm and until 10 pm).

Currently under restoration - with a new operator and investor in partnership with Endiama -, after being idle since 2009, the project, which received the license to start prospecting in 2019, has 202 employees (14 expatriates). However, Pedro Domingos, quoted by Jornal de Angola, considered that as production capacity grows, the workforce should be strengthened.
