Approved accounts of parties that ran for election. CNE with reservations about UNITA and PHA

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) approved the accounts of the parties that ran in the general elections held in August 2022, with reservations in the case of the Partido Humanista de Angola (PHA) and UNITA.

The document approved by the CNE plenary session on 19 January does not contain the reports of the Partido da Renovação Social (PRS) and the Frente Nacional de Libertação de Angola (FNLA), "which did not present to the CNE, within the deadlines established by law, their rendering of accounts", reveals the body in a note released on its 'site'.

Eight parties and coalitions competed in the general elections on 24 August, but the CNE only received the accounts reports of six political formations, of which four were approved without reservations: CASA-CE coalition, Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA),  Partido Nacionalista para a Justiça em Angola (P-Njango) and Aliança Patriótica Nacional (APN).

The reports by the PHA and the União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola (UNITA) were approved with reservations, says the same note, without specifying which ones.

Lusa has tried to contact the CNE spokesperson, Lucas Quilundo, for more details, without success so far.

The CNE will also inform the Court of Auditors that two of the parties have not submitted accounts.

The meeting led by the president of the CNE, Manuel Pereira da Silva, also served to inform the plenary members about the next meeting of the directors of the executive committee of the Forum of Electoral Commissions of the Southern African Development Community (ECF-SADC), which will take place place in Luanda in March.

On the occasion, information was also provided on the sixth general meeting of the Network of Jurisdictional and Electoral Administration of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (ROJAE-CPLP), which takes place in Lisbon between 14 and 16 February.
