The country has already fulfilled half of the UNESCO recommendations since the elevation of Mbanza Congo to Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2017, informed the technical director of the Historic Center of Mbanza Congo, Biluka Nsakala Nsenga.

So far, 22 recommended actions have been carried out, out of a total of 42. "Of the 42 actions that were foreseen for the first management plan, the center managed to implement at least 22 actions", said the official, quoted by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA).

In addition, Biluka Nsakala Nsenga indicated that the recommendations have not yet been completed in full due to the emergence of covid-19.

"Why is it not the totality? Due to what happened on planet Earth with the emergence of some diseases, some calamities and we were not able to fully implement it", he added, quoted by RNA.

He also took the opportunity to mention that with regard to the maintenance of the historic center they are doing everything to safeguard the cultural heritage: "We are making contacts in order to hire a suitable company and, we know that in terms of country, specialists in the field of restoration, Spain it is one of those countries, Italy and the United States of America. Contacts are being made to be able to hire a suitable company to come and fill those cracks that are found in Kulumbimbi", he said, quoted by RNA.
